A Canadian citizen or permanent resident may sponsor her or his spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner, or dependent children to come to Canada as permanent residents.
To become a Canadian citizen, most applicants must
be a permanent resident
have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 5 years (1,095 days)
have filed your taxes, if you need to
pass a citizenship test if you are between 18 to 54 years
prove your language skills in English or French (CLB Level 4 or higher) if you are between 18 to 54 years
